[Library]
[ He's spent a great deal of time since arriving exploring the various levels of this ship, but none so often as the library. The sheer amount of knowledge presented in this place is impressive to say the least, a treasure to be guarded taken advantage of.
Thus, for a few hours out of the day, he can be found in a quite corner with a pile of large tomes, mostly historical or magical in natural. ]
[CES]
[ He has visited this place a couple times, mostly out of curiosity given the room's unusual qualities. Today, a less than pleasant scene greets him. It's a wasteland that stretches as far as the eye can see with dark clouds roiling overhead.
He doesn't linger long. ]
[CTS]
[ For those who choose to visit the CTS this afternoon, there will be an old man in blue wielding an unusual blade.
His opponents?
These. ]
[Deck]
[ This, of all the places on the Barge, is his favorite. The stars, which are familiar friends by now, wink down from the heavens as the ship toils on through the Lanes Between.
He watches them for a long time, and occasionally, he gestures at them. ]
[ ooc: Permissions post for light/darkness heart-sensing is here. Also, I should note the Heartless in the CTS are not real! They're just holograms of them. ]

Jason gets more than he bargained for when he spots Yen Sid. His attire reminds him of a wizard he'd see on a cartoon show, and can't help but wonder if that's the case. When he first arrived on the Barge, Dick told him in some worlds they were fictional characters.
Leans against the wall and opts to observe him for the time being, trying to figure out what he's doing with the stars.]
no subject
The stars speak to him, though, telling him of the tides of light and darkness in places he cannot see -- and will not see, for the immediate future.
He stands there for a long time, not doing much of anything...save for the glimmer of light that appears in the palm of his hand. His expression changes though his lips never move, and he appears to be listening quite intently.
At one point, several stars blaze all the brighter, bringing a rare smile to his aged features. The light in his hand seems to wink in response, shining all the more for the briefest of moments.
They understand one another as few truly can. ]
no subject
How'd you do that little trick? [Jason pushes off against the wall and walks over to where the other man is at, keeping an eye on the stars the entire time.]
no subject
The language of the stars is light.
[ He raises his other hand, still wreathed with his own inner light. ]
So long as you understand and have the ability to tap your own inner light, they will share what they know.
no subject
You look up to your ears in business. Is it anything interesting?
no subject
Looking up, he meets her gaze squarely, unabashed but somewhat preoccupied. ]
Ahh. Not so much business as a case of extreme curiosity, I fear.
[ He gestures at their surroundings. ]
The amount of knowledge accumulated here is truly quite impressive.
no subject
I don't think I could read everything here in a lifetime, so I'd be forced to agree. What has caught your interest so, if I may be so intrusive?
no subject
We can never learn all that there is to know.
[ Even with his vast experience and long life, he knows there are still mysteries beyond his grasp.
He gestures at the stack of books. ]
The histories here are quite extensive. A few books on magical lore and origin myths also caught my eye.
no subject
Books of magic or just histories and stories of it? [Of course, she knows there are copies of the Bible here, from which the words of Royal Psalms were drawn, but it would terrify her if either the Royal Psalms or the Psalms of Revolution could be included in a library.]
no subject
In some worlds, magic is quite real; in others, it is only spoken of in legends or fables.
I've yet to come across a more extensive collection.

[ Not that he believes they're the only ones who can cause a bit of trouble. ]
One may very well question the judgment of the Admiral.
no subject
no subject
[ He doesn't know the reason why she is here so he can't know for certain how responsible she may be with whatever ability the Admiral has left her with.
Still. ]
Might I ask what field of magic you're most familiar with?
no subject
It's called the Psalms, but perhaps it could be described as a kind of incantation magic. The words of the holy Psalms spoken with intent by those who are specially opened to them have power to effect changes.
no subject
What sort of changes?
no subject
Leave messages, track people, change people. [a bit of a pause] It could even kill people outright. The uses were numerous, but not everyone used it the same way.
no subject
He clasps his hands together, apparently deep in thought. ]
I see.
[ A beat. ]
I cannot say I am familiar with that particular sort of magic -- or at least not by that name.
[ He looks at her. ]
You said it was tied to the words of these 'Psalms'?
no subject
no subject
I may seek it out one of these days.
[ He is always willing to learn something new. ]
What is your name?
no subject
I'm Lia de Beaumont.
no subject
I would not expect you to. I am merely curious about the writings themselves.
[ He's poured through many manuscripts on magic, history, and legends over the years, and the lore surrounding her own magic has piqued his interest.
He nods once in greeting. ]
It is a pleasure.
My name is Yen Sid.
no subject
I can show you anytime you wish then, I believe.
Should I leave you now to your studies? [She is a little curious to see closer what he's reading, but that's better done when he's gone.]
CTS
no subject
Clearly, he knows what he is about. ]

He fights on for a little longer, but eventually he tires of his opponents. A mere gesture, and his hand flares, a seering brilliance overtaking the area. When it fades, the creatures are gone.
Dismissing the Keyblade with a gesture, the setting fades, and he begins to wander out. ]

[So she hurries out of the booth to the hallway, the book clutched to her chest. If she thought about it, she would have switched the title side inward. As it was, Introduction to Secular Magical Healing shines in gold letters quite plainly on the white cover.]
Um...hi!
no subject
Young lady.
[ He says it politely, by way of greeting. ]
I don't believe we've met.
no subject
no subject
Chaos, you say?
[ It's not exactly his area of expertise, but he's familiar with the concept.
He strokes his beard thoughtfully. ]
I've been told there are inmates and wardens alike with extraordinary abilities aboard this vessel; I was unaware of any other magic users.
[ He likes talking shop about magic, though, so this is a good thing. He nods once. ]
It is a pleasure, Wanda. My name is Yen Sid.
If I may- how long have you been here?
no subject
There were a lot more wizards once, but they all left. [And most of them looked down their noses at her, so she doesn't miss them.]
[His question makes her sag a little and glance away.] Too long. A year and a half.
no subject
[ A thoughtful answer. He knows a touchy subject when he hears one; he may pry, at a later date, but not right now.
He gestures at the book. ]
I take it, you are continuing your studies?
no subject
[She fidgets slightly, a bit self-conscious.]
no subject
[ He says it thoughtfully. ]
Repairing the body is often less difficult, I've found, than mending other hurts.
[ He considers her openly for a moment. Healing isn't really his specialty (though every Keyblade wielder worth their salt can use Curaga), but... ]
If you should like some assistance in this endeavor, I would be willing to offer it.
no subject
[If they had she would be all over that.]
[She hesitates at his offer.]
...you want to go get some coffee or something?
no subject
Certainly.

I came from dark circumstances. Most of my life my power has been a force of destruction. I'm doing my best to alter that but it's tough. I feel like my Will is clouded by everything I've been through. All the scars.
no subject
It is understandable. The power you possess is difficult by its very nature, and other factors can make things all the worse.
[ A beat. ]
How much progress did you make in the apprenticeship you began?
no subject
[She shrugs.] Two years and change. I've advanced since then, but since I'm not going back to my world I can't exactly pick up where I left off.
