[Private to Kael'thas Sunstrider]

I have opened the door to the CES.

Would you like to join me?

A word, if I may.

[Private to Kael'thas Sunstrider]

Kael'thas Sunstrider. [ A calm, serious greeting. ] My name is Yen Sid.

I believe it is time we met.

Insofar as I can determine, the Heart of the Barge is still unmolested and intact.

[ Not that he can't be fooled, but it bears sharing. At the very least, it means the ship itself isn't dying. ]

I've heard tell this isn't the first time this ship has faced the possibility of an imposter.

Tell me- what happened the last time this occurred?

[Warden Filter]

I've discussed this possibility with several of you, but if your Inmate instigates something that would usually mean time in Zero, I would be willing to magically lock them in their cabin or a room of your choosing and provide you with the key.

Do not hesitate to ask if you require assistance.

[ Good evening, Barge. In contrast to other broadcasts before it, this one takes place with the deck as a backdrop. An old man stands by the edge, watching the stars above, as if considering their placement in the sky.

After a while, he addresses the rest of the Barge. ]

In light of recent graduations and departures, I find myself considering the nature of the Barge itself.

Though it is hardly the most conventional of entities I have seen, in certain aspects, it is not so out of the ordinary as one might suppose. We all hail from a variety of worlds, some more fantastical than others, but there is a common thread, I believe, that unites them.

I speak of the ability to choose, whether the circumstances be good or ill.

The Barge is not so different, in that sense -- the Admiral or whatever power it is that directs this ship presents us all with unusual situations. Some of them are benign; others are decidedly not. I in no way wish to diminish this fact: that people have suffered and died aboard this vessel, in some cases, multiple times over. The same is true in the worlds from which we came; they are not perfect, and there are times we may face great difficulties.

However, I do believe there is something to be said for the ability to overcome -- finding the strength within to surmount such obstacles and endure, coming forth better than we once were.

I have heard it said the Inmates did not choose to be here; that much is very true. However, I do no believe a single one of us can say we chose to be born. It was another's choice, not our own, but we have the responsibility to ourselves as well as others to make the best of the chances we have been given.

"It is by fire that we are tested, and when we are tested, we shall be proven."

[ Overhead, a star seems to shine all the brighter, if only for a moment. He nods once, solemnly in closing. ]

Good evening to you all.

[ And with that, he shuts off the feed. ]
magisterus: (Everything I know.)
[ S'up, Barge. There's a tiny wizard perched on his infamous book. He doesn't seem especially bothered by the situation -- size changes were common in the Wonderland he's acquainted with, after all. ]

A curious way to start the New Year.

Should any of you require assistance, I am well able to provide it.

[Private to Mozenrath]

A word, if I may.

[ Good evening, Barge. Yen Sid is sitting in his room, as he was the first time he made an entry. The candle on his desk burns brightly, and in the background, one can see a few of his gifts arranged neatly on a wooden dresser. Right now, he appears to be pouring over a tablet with great interest.

Finally, he looks at the camera, and addresses the Barge. ]

First of all, I wish to thank all of you who gave me gifts. [ His expression softens slightly. ] The sentiment is very much appreciated.

[ Usually, Mickey's the only one who tries to bring him presents so he didn't really expect to get anything.

His expression grows serious once more. ]

Secondly, there is a matter I have given much thought to since my arrival here.

Given the number of individuals here with extraordinary capabilities, I have considered the viability of hosting sessions that will allow the residents here -- Inmates and Wardens alike -- to exercise these talents without the restrictions.

[ A pause, to let that sink in. ]

That is to say, those Inmates whose abilities were reduced upon arrival would have the opportunity to use them in a constructive way without the usual "cap".

[ He strokes his beard. ]

I do understand the necessity of certain safeguards as well as supervision. I will also be unable to accept any Inmate who does not first have the permission of their Warden to participate in such activities.

However, I do believe this has the capacity to be positive, for Wardens as well as Inmates.

Should any of you be interested, my door is always open.

[Private to the Admiral]

It is a curious thing, this...urge to request things. I realize you are no Father Christmas, but just the same, I have a few requests:

For Seth, a small crystal that glows when danger draws near and projects a barrier when danger comes. It is for his use alone though he may protect others with it an expand the barrier as he wishes.

For Wanda, I believe three spellbooks detailing the intricacies of chaos magic, its control mechanisms, and creative applications would suffice. Another two on the healing arts, as well.

For Charles Xavier, a snowglobe with a view of the stars and other worlds that shifts when shaken.

For Cassandra Cain, a recording of the adventures of three friends on a quest to save their worlds. The names need not be the same.

And lastly, for every resident of the Barge, one of these candles that burns but does not give heat, and shines without growing dim.
magisterus: (The most ominous of backsides.)
[Library]

[ He's spent a great deal of time since arriving exploring the various levels of this ship, but none so often as the library. The sheer amount of knowledge presented in this place is impressive to say the least, a treasure to be guarded taken advantage of.

Thus, for a few hours out of the day, he can be found in a quite corner with a pile of large tomes, mostly historical or magical in natural. ]

[CES]

[ He has visited this place a couple times, mostly out of curiosity given the room's unusual qualities. Today, a less than pleasant scene greets him. It's a wasteland that stretches as far as the eye can see with dark clouds roiling overhead.

He doesn't linger long. ]

[CTS]

[ For those who choose to visit the CTS this afternoon, there will be an old man in blue wielding an unusual blade.

His opponents?

These. ]

[Deck]

[ This, of all the places on the Barge, is his favorite. The stars, which are familiar friends by now, wink down from the heavens as the ship toils on through the Lanes Between.

He watches them for a long time, and occasionally, he gestures at them. ]

[ ooc: Permissions post for light/darkness heart-sensing is here. Also, I should note the Heartless in the CTS are not real! They're just holograms of them. ]
magisterus: (Perhaps one day they'll learn.)
[ An elderly, rather severe looking man appears on the network. Clad all in blue, he sits behind a desk, his gaze strangely piercing. The inside of his room possesses a few curious bits of scenery.

Seemingly oblivious to that face, the old man begins to speak, ponderous in his assessment. ]

This is my first time aboard such a vessel. I confess I have never seen its like before, wandering the Lanes Between.

[ He strokes his beard thoughtfully. ]

I believe it to be for the best, however. There are very few who are granted a second chance, and even fewer willing to guide them on that path.

[ A pause, and a flicker of something crosses his features. It's brief, though, there and gone in a moment. ]

My name is Yen Sid. Wardens and Inmates alike, I am glad to be counted amongst your number.
magisterus: (Default)
So, Yen Sid here is a retired Keyblade Master. Like other Keyblade wielders of Kingdom Hearts, not only is he capable of wielding magic, but he also has the ability to sense the level of light and/or darkness in a person's heart.

What this means: If your character is one who experiences a great deal of negative emotions (i.e. anger, hatred, fear, jealousy, etc), it will register on Yen Sid's radar as Darkness. If your character experiences a great deal of positive emotions (love, happiness, kindness, etc), then it will register as Light.

Please note, however, with very few exceptions, in Kingdom Hearts, there is Light and Darkness in every heart. Thus, it's sort of a matter of deciding which element your character has more of an affinity with.

The following form should cover it:

Thank you! ♥
